WELCOME TO PARADISE!

Thanks for stopping in! Here you will find my personal photographs and reviews of the many resorts on Bora Bora. Just scroll down until you come to the resort your wish to view. There are many photos of each property. There are also links on the right side of this page to my other Tahiti island sites. Enjoy!

BORA BORA

Bora Bora has been called the most beautiful island in the world. The lagoon is legendary, the people are friendly and their culture is facinating. Choosing a hotel in Bora Bora can be a daunting task. Accomodations range from five star resorts to small family run pensions. I am including some of the most popular resort properties on this site. I hope the photographs and reviews are helpful in your search for your perfect paradise.

FOUR SEASONS RESORT BORA BORA

Just opened September 1, 2008, Four Seasons Bora Bora sets a new standard in service unmatched by any other resort on the island. Friendly, experienced, courteous and prompt, each staff member I encountered was eager to please. True Tahitian ambience awaits those seeking five star plus elegance with all the trimmings. The bungalows are spacious, private, romantic and decorated with incredible attention to detail. I stayed in a Mountain View Overwater here. Each room has sliding glass that opens onto the deck with endless views of the azure blue lagoon. The white sandy beach here runs the entire length of the resort and then some. There are tropical fish about already (I even saw some rays!). The best snorkeling is on the shark-ray feeding excursion. Incredible! The resort spa is quiet, intimate, and has island views from the womens spa and open sea views from the mens separate area. There is also a co-ed relaxation room that will lull you into nap heaven. Hubby and I had the couples massage which was truly wonderful. The gym is full service and sports an open ocean view. There is a Kids for all Seasons Club and a Teen Club complete with it’s own Chill Island and lagoon access. The restaurants offer a wide variety of fare from casual burgers at the Beach Bar to fine dining at the Arii Moana. Mesmerizing and overwhelmingly beautiful, this resort and its exemplary service sets the highest bar in Bora Bora. There are lots and lots of photos of everything beginning below (sorry no bubble bath photos with me in them online!) haha! Enjoy, this is a spectacular property.

Arrival is via Yacht.

ST REGIS BORA BORA

St Regis Bora Bora opened in summer of 2006 and has given every other resort a standard to shoot for. Five star plus, butler service, classic contemporary decor with a tahitian flair, and a price tag to match. The Villas are incredibly large and have attended to every creature comfort imaginable. Two 42" TV's, oh my! Unbelievable. Had lunch here and visited some friends who were staying as well. The service was attentive, the staff seemed eager to help. The guests there were high end travelers from what I could see, and I was surprised to see a fair amount of children. The food and wine were delightful. The flora is just beginning to grow and will be overwhelmingly tropical in time. This resort is quite large with Villas spread out over several different areas around the property. The only way to describe this resort and it's view of Bora Bora is Picture Perfect.

INTERCONTINENTAL RESORT AND THALASSO-SPA BORA BORA

Luxurious is the word for this five star plus property. It opened in May of 2006 and has been drawing honeymooners like a magnet ever since. All bungalows are overwater here with three different catagories. The bungalows are identical inside and only vary by the distance out over water. These bungalows are so big I couldn't find my husband! They are spacious, extremely modern, and tasteful. No Tahitian decor here. This is contemporary design in every way. There is a large living room and an actual entryway, both have floor to ceiling glass. The large deck has a table, chairs, loungers, and a pontoon below for sunning, a shower and ladder to the water. The bedroom is a separate room with a raised king bed and a picture window out to the sea. Flat screen TVs in both livingroom and bedroom. Don't know why we needed two TV's, but they've got them if you want them. The bathroom is schmancy with a fancy tub for you girls with a picture window and separate shower that you'll wish you could pack in your suitcase to take home. I swear I will never forget that bubble bath and the view...The colors are muted, soft and dark wood. This place is fantastic! The view of Bora Bora is unforgettable here. The water is clearing up after all the construction. It is fairly deep under the Sapphire and Diamond catagories and has a soft sand bottom. The fish are beginning to return as well, but there is no coral. So take the free boat over to their sister resort, the Intercontinental Le Moana, get a kayak, and pop out to the coral gardens for tons of fish. One of the best things about staying at the Thalasso is that guests can enjoy their sister resort's beach, and sign for meals and drinks there as well! Sparkely new, this resort set a new precident of luxury in French Polynesia.

INTERCONTINENTAL LE MOANA RESORT

This resort is all about the beach. It is on Matira point which juts out from Matira beach into the lagoon. The water is soft white sandy bottom for fantastic swimming. It is just a kayak ride across the bay to the famed "coral gardens" for snorkeling. It is within walking distance of several small restaurants and a market for snacks and water. Another big plus is that guests can take the free boat over to their sister property, the Intercontinental Resort - Thalasso Spa, where they can use the pool and beach. This property has recently been completely renovated. A beautiful five star beachy resort with some action.

HILTON BORA BORA NUI RESORT & SPA

This resort has got to be the most spread out of all properties on Bora Bora. When you arrive the reception desk is overwater. Even a glass floor at check in! The beach at this property is an incredible sweeping white sandy heaven. They will even drive you around on a golf cart if you wish, as I imagine that if you forgot your suntan lotion in your bungalow, it's a bit of a walk back. The rooms are top notch here too. There are only three overwater bungalows that have a view of Bora Bora through the pass. The rest of the overwaters face out into the lagoon and it's endless hues of azure blue and the sunset. Simply stunning....The spa bungalows are up on the hill with a panoramic lagoon and horizon view. The common areas ie: activity room with pool table, restaurant and bar upstairs….are beautifully decorated and the view is mesmerizing. They have a horizon pool, as do most properties, and it was nice to see the honeymooners all looking content floating in it! Tastful and five star, this property is truly quite amazingly overwhelming.

HOTEL BORA BORA

The iconic Hotel Bora Bora closed in October 2008 for a two year complete renovation. As of this writing (2/9/10) no work has begun on the restoration. I will keep you updated on the progress at this timeless property. I am leaving a few photos up here for those of you who have visited and wish to remember the glory of this fine property.

BORA BORA PEARL BEACH RESORT & SPA

The Pearl resort has a sunrise view of Bora Bora. The overwater bungalows are well appointed, as is the property itself. They have planted coral to attract the fish which seems to be working well. The transport to and from the resort is to the main town of Viatape. Oh and don't let me forget that wonderful Manea Spa! I know so many people who have been simply delighted with their stay at this resort!

BORA BORA LAGOON RESORT & SPA

One of the best things about this property is the view of the island of Bora Bora and front of Mount Otemanu...simply stunning! This property has a true tahitian relaxed atmosphere and the gardens are lovely. Their boat shuttle takes you to and from the main town of Viatape all day and into the evening, and it's just a quick five minute ride. I had dinner here this time. The fish was truly delicious, and the service was very attentive. The beach is nice, the view is spectacular, and the snorkeling is quite good. There is also a sunrise and a sunset view from here! They have specials that keep the prices reasonable, so if you are looking for authentic decor, friendly people and an awestriking view, then the Bora Bora Lagoon Resort & Spa should be high on your list.

LE MERIDIEN BORA BORA

Le Meridien Bora Bora has another great view of Bora Bora. The resort is situated on a motu. There is a resort lagoon for swimming, a turtle sanctuary, a pool, and family activities. This resort is a great value overwater. The bungalows have huge glass floors for viewing fish under the bungalows. This property became apart of the Starwood resorts this year as well.

SOFITEL BORA BORA MARARA BEACH & PRIVATE ISLAND

This property is now two resorts in one. The Private Island portion of the resort below has one of the loveliest views of the island of Bora Bora I have seen. The snorkeling is great here and it is also close to the famed "coral gardens" for additional snorkeling. This is a quiet property just offshore of Matira Beach. There is a fair amount of boat traffic that passes by but nothing that really bothers. The overwater bungalows are in great shape. The other locations are nice as well. This is a four star property. Their transport takes you to and from their sister property the Sofitel Bora Bora Marara Beach onshore. If beautiful views are on your list then this is an excellent choice.

SOFITEL BORA BORA MARARA BEACH

This resort is right on Matira Bay, the
bungalows provide all the comforts one would expect and more from a four star property. All bungalows sport a modern and new design throughout. This property is a wonderful value for the dollar if you are looking for overwater accomodations. There is a restaurant, a bar, a nice beach, and a horizon swimming pool. It is also within walking distance of a market and a couple local eateries.

LE MAITAI POLYNESIA BORA BORA

This resort is three star and a great alternative for the budget minded traveler. The Le Maitai Polynesia has a few shallow overwater bungalows, beach bungalows and ocean and garden A/C rooms. The Beach Bungalows are along the road so there is a bit of noise. The Oceanview rooms are up on a big hill and have a fantastic view of the lagoon! All categories offer basic amenities and are clean. They also have a restaurant and bar. It should be noted that the beach is rather small here, and if you need one, there is no swimming pool. A big plus here is the ability to walk to many small restuarants, and a market for snacks & drinks! All in all the Le Maitai Polynesia is a great deal, and remember those rooms up on the hill with that view!!

NOVOTEL BORA BORA BEACH RESORT

The Novotel is also on Matira Beach. All their rooms are across the street from the beach and are quite basic with a nice garden atmosphere. There are no ocean views here from the rooms. They have a small swimming pool, restaurant, and bar all on the beachside of the resort. The Novotel and the Le Maitai Polynesia hotels are both near the Tiare Market where you can buy groceries, snacks, alcohol & water for your room. The beach here is small and it's nice for swimming. This property is a good value.
